Zeutschel and BOS le Progrès convincing at Archive Event in Tunis
Archiving is enjoying increasing popularity in Tunisia.
“With its multicultural roots, the country possesses a moving and exciting past that must be protected by future generations", explained Yassine Moalla, Managing Director of Bos le Progrés, partner of the digitalization specialist from Tübingen. An excellent opportunity to meet customers and interested users and to present the latest scan technologies was offered at the first Archive Expo from 3rd to 6th June in Tunis, where the partner community stand of Zeutschel and Bos le Progrès received an important political visitor. Hakim Bouraoui, Tunisian Secretary of State, informed himself extensively about the Zeutschel ‚Perfect Book´ technology, which provided "perfect images" of bound documents, and was then hugely impressed by the user advantages. ‚Perfect Book´ is a scan technology that optimally smoothes out the book joint in the middle by means of 3D surface reconstruction. The characters, which are otherwise compressed at the book joint, are aligned exactly straight and equalised, the pages are automatically separated and the correct artwork format recognised. In addition, ‚Perfect Book´ automatically straightens out crooked pages. The user therefore no longer needs to align the presentations cleanly to a corner of the book scanner. Thanks to ´Perfect book´, the thumb that holds books or magazines open becomes just as obsolete as the little "post-its" that mark the pages.
The advantages and technical principles of‚ Perfect Book´ are illustrated in a cartoon that was produced by Zeutschel. The film was shown at the Archive Expo on a large-scale flatbed screen and generated a great deal of interest among visitors.
“Tunisia is an attractive market for innovative information and communications technologies", explained Yassine Moalla, and referred to the high growth rate of this sector in 2008 of almost 18%. The Managing Director of Bos le Progrès summed up: “Together with Zeutschel, we want to take part in the development of the market and use the available business potential".
